KAMAR Directory Services Update

This is only relevant to KAMAR Schools and their Data Sharing Service

As you may be aware, Inbox Design (SchoolPoint/SchoolBridge and SchoolSite) receives data directly from your KAMAR Instance using the secure Directory Services Data-sync. We have always treated your data security as a top priority, and store it all in our secure databases running on our own physical servers in Auckland, New Zealand.

As part of the new school.kiwi Web Portal, KAMAR have introduced a new screen for Students and Caregivers called Data Sharing.
This allows all students and caregivers to see which Directory Services your school shares their data with.
Caregivers and students 16 years of age or over, now have the ability to turn off some or all of their information from being shared with each or all services.

This gives you two options:

1: Disable this Option

As we host our data securely in New Zealand and meet KAMAR's requirements, you can choose to disable this from the students view.

In KAMAR => SETUP => SERVER => DIRECTORY SERVICES => [OUR SYNC SERVICE].
First, click on the [CHECK AND ENABLE] button. Wait for the response.
Then click on the [PRIVACY STATEMENT] button.
You will see that we return our privacy statement and that we're hosting in New Zealand.

Then you can go to KAMAR => SETUP => SERVER => DATA SHARING SERVICE.
You will see all services and our service will be listed.
You should see a checkbox [Can Opt Out of Sharing Personal Details].
Unchecking this will omit our service from the Students/Caregivers.

2: Provide a description

If you want to give Caregivers and Students the option to opt-out, then we recommend providing a description of what you use our products for.
Go to In KAMAR => SETUP => SERVER => DATA SHARING SERVICE.
You will see all services and our service will be listed.Add a message to the text box for our service, below is an example:

This service is used for our school dashboard and app, permission slips, course selection, parent teacher conference bookings and academic tracking. Please leave this service active or you will loose access to the system.
