Set up in minutes

Create a ballot, decide who votes, add your candidates, and set the dates. The ballot opens and closes itself — nobody has to remember to unlock it on the morning, or shut it down at the bell.

  • Pick your voters. All staff, students by year level, or caregivers — primary, secondary, or both.
  • Categories for each position. One ballot can elect a Head Prefect, eight prefects and four house captains, each with its own vote limit.

Voting that just works

Voters sign in with the SchoolBridge account they already use, so there are no codes to hand out, no links to lose, and no question about who cast what.

  • Works on any device. Phones in the quad, Chromebooks in class, or the desktop in the staffroom.
  • Votes remaining, always visible. Students can see how many votes they have left in each category as they go.
  • Optional comments. Let voters add a note with their vote, or switch comments off entirely.
  • Change of mind, or not. Allow voters to update or cancel a vote while the ballot is open — or lock every vote the moment it is cast.
  • Anonymous voting. Flip one switch and no vote can be traced back to the person who cast it.

Run your student representative election in-house

Under the Education (Board Elections) Regulations 2022, student representative elections do not have to go through an accredited provider — as long as the software you use meets the requirements. Ours was built to.

A genuine secret ballot

The electoral roll and the ballot box are kept completely separate. We record that a student voted — so nobody votes twice — but the vote itself carries no link back to them. Not hidden on screen. Not stored and masked. Not stored at all.

Compliance settings, locked on

Mark a ballot as a Board Election at creation and anonymity, locked votes and password-protected results switch on and stay on. The setting itself can never be edited afterwards, so an election cannot quietly stop being one halfway through.


Verified voters

Every elector is identified by their existing school login before they can cast a vote, and the roll enforces one vote per student per position — whether they voted online or on paper.

Auditable by a scrutineer

Full exports of the roll and of every vote cast, ready for a recount. Views and exports of the results are recorded in your staff access log, and the results themselves sit behind a password you set.

It's worth knowing: the exemption from using an accredited provider applies to student representative elections. Parent and staff representative elections are covered by different rules and still require an accredited provider.

Paper, when paper is needed

The regulations say a paper form has to be available on request, and that paper and electronic votes go into the same declared count. Both are built in.

Print nomination forms and voting forms straight from the ballot — one page per position, with a barcode reference and a detachable elector section that the returning officer removes before the vote is counted. Exactly how a paper secret ballot is meant to work.

Password protected

Set a results password when you create the ballot and nobody sees the count without it. Not even other staff.

Declare and freeze

Declaring the results locks the ballot for good. The count is preserved as a permanent record of who was elected.


Results, declared and done

Election data does not sit around forever. Once a board election is declared and the roll and voting data have been transferred to the Registrar of the District Court, SchoolPoint deletes its own copy automatically six months later — the retention period the regulations set out. No reminders in your calendar, no spreadsheet quietly living on somebody's desktop.

For every other ballot, the same care applies: results behind a password, staff access logged, anonymity that is real rather than cosmetic, and no data leaving your school's SchoolPoint.
